At Glow, we believe that recovery is not just about accessing support, it’s about feeling heard, understood, and connected. Our Recovery Hub exists to create safe, empowering spaces where women who have experienced domestic abuse can begin to heal, rebuild confidence, and find strength in community.
Last week, our Recovery Hub Service Lead, Becky, attended the In Her Shoes and Coffee & Cake & Courage art exhibition alongside women from our Recovery Hub. The exhibition, created by Staffordshire Police, brought together survivors of domestic abuse, as well as their friends and families, to share their experiences through powerful and deeply personal artwork.
The space was filled with honesty, courage, and connection, each piece telling a story of pain, resilience, and hope. Events like this are a powerful reminder of why it’s so important to champion the voices of those who have experienced domestic abuse. When survivors are given the space to express themselves, their stories not only support their own healing but also help others feel less alone.
Becky described the event as: “Incredible. The place was full of people from all walks of life, sharing their stories with immense courage. Proof that strength and vulnerability can co-exist, truly mind-blowing.”
One of our Recovery Hub customers shared how meaningful the experience was: “I had the privilege of attending the event with some incredible women that I’ve met along my journey with Glow. It was such a powerful and emotional evening. Walking through the exhibition and seeing the artwork created by survivors of domestic abuse, alongside pieces contributed by their loved ones, was deeply moving. Each piece told a story of pain, resilience, strength, and hope.”
“Throughout the evening, we also heard personal stories from exhibitors, as well as powerful words shared by Staffordshire Police and the local MP. Hearing these experiences firsthand made the evening even more emotional and meaningful, reminding everyone in the room why it’s so important that survivors’ voices are heard and supported.”
Sharing this experience with the women from Glow made it even more special. The Recovery Hub programme has created such a supportive sisterhood, and moments like this remind me how powerful community, understanding, and solidarity can be on the journey of healing.”
This is the heart of Glow’s Recovery Hub, a space where women are supported to find their voice, understand their experiences, and move forward with strength, surrounded by a community that truly understands.
